KOLLE(최동원)작가

Kolle, the Grand Prize winner at ADAA Fukuoka in Still Image, was born and raised in Busan, Korea. Finished his college education and worked in Los Angeles, then, came back to Seoul to pursue his career as a designer in fashion. He created his own fashion label, Ariya Sacca to convey the Asian spirit to daily wardrobe and was noticed by Not Just a Label, UK, then appointed as Black Sheep, one of the innovative designers. His endeavor to reveal Asian culture with modern technology found a way in digital art. Tarae is a thread bunch in Korean. The thread art he is creating in his works represents one’s experiences or bonds, 絆 Kizuna, between people. They all form individual mindsets or communities, and the shapes would be diverse. Something like a Moon jar or Knots. The threads can be any shape depending on what you want and what you achieve. ADAA 후쿠오카 2023 대상 수상 작가 콜은 부산에서 자라서 미국 로스엔젤레스에서 패션 디자인 학과를 졸업하고 여러 디자인 업종에서 경험을 쌓고 한국에 돌아와서 한솔 섬유에 재직 후 자신의 레이블 Ariya Sacca를 시작했습니다. 동양적 정신 세계를 현대 의복에 녹여내기 위해 노력했고 영국의 Not just a Label 에서 혁신적인 디자이너에게 수여하는 Black Sheep 타이틀을 받았습니다. 현대적 테크놀로지를 통해 동양적 무드를 나타내려는 노력은 디지털 아트에서도 계속 됩니다. 실타래로 표현되는 여러 형태들은 개인적 경험들의 집합체나 사람간의 연대 ( 일본에서 일컫는 키즈나, 絆)가 이루어내는 무형적 커뮤니티를 형상화한다고 볼 수 있습니다. 순간의 선택에 따라 그 모습은 달라집니다.
